Commencement, May 2012

The 246th Rutgers University Commencement was held in the Rutgers University High Point Solutions Stadium on Sunday, May 13th. Presiding over the ceremonies was Rutgers President Richard McCormick. This year's keynote speaker was Rutgers alumni Greg Brown, chairman and chief executive officer of Motorola Solutions. Brown, and his wife Anna are supporters of the GSAPP Psychological Services Clinic. Anna Brown is the granddaughter of Henry and Anna Starr who were the clinic founders.

Earlier that morning, GSAPP held its thirty-seventh graduation reception. This second GSAPP Convocation was held at the Rutgers Visitor Center on Busch Campus.

The Robert D. Weitz Award was presented by Dean Stanley Messer to Rebecca Greif (Clinical) for her helpfulness to other students, and for her unending dedication to her research working with the eating disorders prevention program
“Reflections”. This award is presented to the graduating student whose energy, spirit, and enthusiasm evidences a dedication and willingness to work in the interests of professional psychology and the people it serves.

Lambright The Cyril Franks Award was presented to Nathan Lambright (Clinical). This award is presented to the graduating student whose doctoral dissertation evidences outstanding scholarship and reflects GSAPP’s standard of excellence. Nathan’s dissertation was titled “Using A Pairing Procedure to Develop Reinforcers for Children on the Autism Spectrum with a Restricted Range of Preferred Items”.

The GSAPP class of 2012 was made up of 30 PsyD graduates and also 34 PsyMs. Watch Kathryne Blauvelt, one of our 2012 graduates, speak about GSAPP.

The graduates were welcomed into the GSAPP Alumni Association by Bonnie Markham (Clinical, 1986) Treasurer of the American Psychological Association (APA).
