Charlie Maher Retiring June 2011

By now you may have heard that Charlie Maher (School, '76), GSAPP's favorite sport psychologist and program evaluation professor, will be retiring at the end of June, 2011. He has been at GSAPP for 34 years and has been a favorite teacher for all of them. Alumni often remark on how valuable his teaching has been to their careers. He has also had a distinguished career as a school psychologist, writing many articles, and editing books and journals. He has consulted to professional sports teams and to the Rutgers football team, which he will continue to do upon his retirement from GSAPP. In addition, Charlie was a chair of the Applied Psychology Department and directed our school psychology program. Charlie has asked that no fuss be made about his leaving, which, happily, he is doing in good health. He has most generously offered to continue working with his dissertation students and possibly to teach an online course.

We wish Charlie all the best in the next phase of his career and life, and are comforted by knowing that he will continue to be a part-time presence at GSAPP.
