Tourette's Syndrome Program
In partnership with The Center for Applied Psychology of the Rutgers University Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology and The Tourette Syndrome Association of New Jersey, The Tourette Syndrome Program provides psychological services to individuals with Tourette Syndrome and their families. This unique Program specializes in the provision of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which has been scientifically supported to be an effective form of treatment for Tourette Syndrome and related disorders. CBT treatments are non-invasive and can be used as an alternative, or in some cases, as a compliment to medication.
The Tourette Syndrome Program provides services through a broad range of treatment modalities including education about Tourette Syndrome, individual therapy, family therapy, child social skills groups, parent training and support groups, habit reversal training, consultation with schools, and referrals for educational and neuropsychological assessment. In addition to helping individuals cope with Tourette Syndrome, we also provide treatment for associated conditions including obsessive-compulsive disorder, non-OCD anxiety disorders, attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder, attention-deficit disorder, mood disorders, and sleep disorders.
The Tourette Syndrome Program is directed by Dr. Lori Rockmore, a licensed clinical psychologist with expertise in Tourette Syndrome and related disorders. Services are provided by doctoral level clinical psychology graduate students enrolled in the Rutgers University Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology. The Program offers free assessment appointments to allow for a thorough evaluation, to provide us an opportunity to learn about you and your unique needs, and to give you a chance to meet us and ask questions. Following the assessment process we will provide you with feedback and work with you to develop a treatment plan to best meet your needs. Therapeutic services are offered on a sliding scale based on family income.
