Research Interests and Clinical Work:
Integration of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy and Play Therapy, Evidence-Based Practice, Psychological Trauma and Trauma-Related Disorders.
Dr. Springer is the director of the Psychological Services Clinic at the Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology (GSAPP) at Rutgers University. He received his PhD in clinical psychology from Fairleigh Dickinson University. Dr. Springer is a licensed psychologist in New York and New Jersey and is credentialed by the National Register of Health Service Psychologists. Prior to his appointment at Rutgers, Dr. Springer spent 10 years at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center's Metropolitan Regional Child Abuse Diagnostic and Treatment Center, where he developed and supervised programming for children and families impacted by child abuse and neglect. He serves on the Practice Guidelines Committee of the American Professional Society on the Abuse of Children (APSAC) and he is on the editorial board of the Journal of Child Sexual Abuse. Dr. Springer has given numerous presentations and workshops at regional and national conferences and is the author of several peer-reviewed journal articles, book chapters and a book entitled "Game-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Child Sexual Abuse: An Innovative Treatment Approach."
